There's So Much Fun With Candle Fundraising

Candle fundraising can prove to be one of the most fun fundraisers
that you can take on, depending on how you approach it. You can
make the candles yourself for your candle fundraising or order them
from an Internet company, but you will find that making them can
be fun as well as profitable. They are easy to make and the candles
project can be fun for everyone. Just keep in mind that you will have
to use disposable materials for the cleanup as the gel is very hard to
get out of things.

Start your candle fundraising with gel votive candles. These candles
look and smell good and have a long burning time. To make these
candles for your candles fundraising you will need gel wax, pretty
votive holders, wicks, wax color and scent, scissors, a pot, paper plates,
and pencils. Twirl the top of the wick around the pencil.

Make sure you have left enough wick to reach the bottom of your
container and try to keep it as straight as possible. Put your pencil
across the top of your holder so that the candle wick is centered
properly. Melt the wax and add scents and coloring as needed and

Of course there is another way to sell your candles besides door to
door or at a sale. You can advertise them on Internet fundraising
but to do this there are some rules to be followed. Fund raising on
the Internet can be very profitable if done properly. Make sure your
site doesn’t fade into the background and invisible to the public.
You need to make it attractive for your candle fundraising. Make
sure the candles you’re selling are featured.

Always give the donor options for your candles fundraising and show
the donor just how their money is being used. Have other activities
added to your site that will make it interesting to those who are donating

different scented candles but don’t confuse it with other products. Having

If you love candles, and spend money on them constantly, maybe
you should consider getting a soy candle business of your own.

These candles tend to sell themselves. More than 80% of homes
in the United States burn candles on a regular basis, and you
probably know people who fit this category. This is a lucrative
business that is easy to start.

Most of the soy candle business opportunity companies are
Multi Level Marketing companies. This means that not only
do you make money selling soy candles, but you also make
money helping others learn to sell candles. This is truly a
win-win situation for all involved. You can work this business
as little or as much as you want.

The first thing you want to do is research some of the companies
that offer independent ownership within their company. A soy
candle business opportunity can cost as little as $40 and can go
well over $500, depending on the company your decide to go with,
and on the packages they offer to start your business.

Many of these companies offer up to 50% commission on each sale.
However, some require you to purchase a minimum amount each
month, while others let your order when you need them and have no
buying requirements. Find the companies you are comfortable with
and then look at other things in the company.

You will probably want to work with a company that will help your

that you can’t talk someone into becoming a distributor, you will be

Candle Making: Hobby or Business?

I remember the day I made my first wax candle at home, with
supplies bought from a local store. I just couldn’t get over my
amazement at how much like a ‘real candle’ my effort looked, just
as I could not believe how relatively simple it had been.

It was my friend Charlene, an aromatherapy expert, who had
initiated me in the art of candle making, and today, I have a lot
to thank her for. It is very gratifying when friends and family
sing my candles’ praises, and blindly trust me to make them the
best-looking and sweetest-smelling candles.

Plenty of people have suggested that I start selling my products,
because from the initial wax candles, I had soon branched out to
include aromatic candles and gel candles in my repertoire. Though
I confess to being too lazy to run an organized business, I know
plenty of people who have turned their hobby of candle making
into a lucrative profession.

The money-spinning aspect of candle making has become prominent
of late, as the candle has grown in popularity to become many things
to many people. While aromatherapy enthusiasts swear by the soothing
properties of a scented candle, interior decorators declare that there is
nothing like a well-positioned set of candles to beautify a room.

Given the circumstances, it is hardly a surprise that candle making as
an art is constantly gaining in popularity. Today, there are hundreds of
books, web sites and both online and offline classes that teach the art of
making candles. For candle aficionados like Charlene, who taught candle
making before switching to aromatherapy, teaching the art is only partly
about making money. “It gives me a chance to share something I love,”
she once told me.

Why does one want to learn candle making? For me, whom not many
(including myself) thought was a particularly creative person, candle
making offered a chance to find out whether that was indeed so. Having
once begun, it was impossible to stop, despite the hours of patient effort
I had to put in. Along the way, I discovered that candle making required
great determination and discipline, not to mention time. But believe me,
once you have mastered the art, the level of satisfaction makes all the
effort worthwhile.

That is not say that all types of candles require the same degree of time
and effort. Some are also more expensive than others, but as you get better
at the craft, you will find your own little shortcuts and innovations, which will
help make your candles unique and cost-effective. I know, because I have
been there and experience, as they say, is the best teacher. But whatever
you do, please remember to adopt proper safety measures at all times, and
don’t lose heart if your initial attempts don’t bear the kind of fruit you expect!
